Nancy Metayer Bowen is a distinguished public servant and the first Black and Haitian-American woman Commissioner of Coral Springs. Her political journey began in high school, where she served as President of the Student Government Association. Metayer Bowen's dedication to public service spans a notable career addressing a wide range of issues, from environmental advocacy to disaster relief. Before her role on the Coral Springs City Commission, she led environmental justice efforts across the state of Florida, focusing on enhancing community resilience.

As an Environmental Scientist and former member of the Broward County Soil and Water Conservation District, Metayer Bowen has applied her strategic expertise across various government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Her work has been instrumental in addressing water crises and responding to major natural disasters, including Hurricanes Irma, Michael, and Dorian. Her commitment to improving environmental conditions, water quality, sanitation, and public health is reflected in her extensive professional experience.

In her current role as Senior Manager, Energy Justice and Equity Specialist for EXP, Metayer Bowen champions equitable processes and outcomes in clean energy technologies, building codes, and equipment efficiency standards. Her work aims to promote environmental justice and ensure that all communities benefit from advancements in clean energy.

Metayer Bowen's vision for Coral Springs includes making the city a leader in sustainability and resilience. She is dedicated to supporting small businesses and exploring opportunities in solar manufacturing, technology hubs, and other community industries. Guided by core values of community service, philanthropy, and stewardship, she seeks to amplify the voices of all community members and work towards a better future for Coral Springs.

In addition to her role as Commissioner, Metayer Bowen serves as a Commission Liaison to several committees, including the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Charter School Advisory Board, Environmental Sustainability Committee, Multicultural Advisory Committee, Broward League of Cities, and the Broward County Climate Change Task Force. She is also a member of the Finance, Taxation, and Personnel Committee, a Florida League of Cities Legislative Committee.
