Catherine Givens

Catherine Givens was named Deputy City Manager in May 2022. She is responsible for Budget and the Office of Sustainability, which includes Strategy, Grants, Intergovernmental, and Charter School. In her role as Deputy City Manager, Givens also oversees the Department of Development Services, Economic Development Office and the Building Department. Givens joined the City of Coral Springs as Director of Budget and Strategy in 2016 and was promoted to Assistant City Manager in March 2021.

Givens is responsible for managing the city’s $300 million budget and strategic planning process. Additionally, Givens facilitates and supports cross-functional process improvement teams through managing the city’s performance management. She administers Commission workshop presentations and publishes appropriate documentation. Givens is responsible for the implementation of the city’s sustainability action plan, improving business relations and ensuring cohesive working relationships with local, state, and federal agencies.

Givens is dedicated in her roles of the Public Education Liaison for our city schools and Trustee on the Coral Springs Police Pension Board. Additionally, Givens is a Board Member of the Florida Sterling Council and a member of the Florida City and County Management Association (FCCMA) Women in Local Government Focus Group, Broward City and County Management Association (BCCMA), International City/County Managers Association (ICMA), Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), Member and Leadership Committee of Florida Government with Finance Officers Association (FGFOA), Florida Public Pension Trustee Association (FPPTA) and Leadership Broward. Additionally, she is a member and Past-President of the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale and has served as a Day Chair for History, Urban and Education (HUE) Day. 

Prior to joining the City of Coral Springs, Givens worked from 2005 to 2016 for Franklin Templeton Investments in the Performance Analysis and Investment Risk Department. In this role, she managed a highly analytical global performance and risk management team responsible for distributing performance, market risk, enterprise and operational risk analytics and reporting.
 
Givens is committed to serving the community she lives, works, and is raising a family along with her husband. Givens is a proud mother of a talented, spirited, smart son, who she and her husband enjoy cheering on during travel soccer games.

Givens graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and a Master of Business Administration in Global Entrepreneurship and Finance from Florida State University. As a Marjory Stoneman Douglas graduate, she believes the Broward County public school system provided her a solid foundation in education, along with positive extracurricular activities which helped to mold her future.
