Hurricane Milton Update

We are no longer under a Tropical Storm Warning or Tornado Watch. A wind advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m.
Post-Storm Information:
- After damage assessment was completed, we can report the city does not have any significant damage as a result of Hurricane Milton.
- The city has mobilized or deployed 10 employees to support our fellow Floridians impacted by the storm and expect to provide additional resources as requested.
- Solid Waste collection is not impacted as a result of the storm. As a reminder, the city started new service with Coastal Waste & Recycling effective October 1. Your collection date may have changed. View our MAP to identify your collection dates.
- If would like to report a missed pick up for bulk, trash or recycling, submit a ticket via Coastal Customer Service.
- As a reminder, tree or lawn debris placed at the curb needs to be cut in sections no longer that 5ft and weigh no more that 50lbs. Debris piles should not be placed under low hanging trees and have a minimum clearance of 3ft from mailboxes, vehicles, or utilities poles/boxes.
Operations:
- City parks and facilities will reopen at noon today, except for the Senior Center at Sartory Hall, which remains closed.
- The Community Bus Shuttle will resume normal operations on Friday.
- City Hall remains open with limited service.
- The One Stop Shop at City Hall is closed. Residents are encouraged to use the website for online services or call ahead for assistance.
- All city services will be fully operational on Friday.

The City of Coral Springs is under a Tornado Watch until 9 p.m. Thursday. Residents are encouraged to remain home until the impacts of Hurricane Milton subside. It is still expected to start impacting our area during the evening hours Wednesday and continue through Thursday.
Closed:
- City parks and facilities will close at 3 p.m. today (10/9) and remain closed until it is safe to reopen.
- Facility closures for the public include the Coral Springs Museum of Art and Center for the Arts.
- Passport Services at the Coral Square Mall will remain closed today (10/9) and tomorrow (10/10).
- The city’s community bus shuttle will cease operations at 3 p.m. today (10/9) and will resume operations on Friday (10/11).
- The One Stop Shop at City Hall is closed today (10/9) and tomorrow (10/10).
Open/Operating:
- City Hall remains open with limited services; residents are encouraged to utilize our website for online services or call ahead for assistance.
- Solid waste collection will continue today and is scheduled to be operational tomorrow unless it is unsafe to do so.

City services may be minimally impacted starting tomorrow (10/9) at 12 p.m. due to Hurricane Milton. Residents seeking in-person city services are encouraged to call ahead. According to the National Weather Service, winds from Hurricane Milton will start to increase late in the afternoon on Wednesday. Due to inclement weather, residents are encouraged to remain home.
Solid waste collection will operate as normal unless we experience sustained winds of more than 40 MPH. The Waste Transfer Station will be closed on Wednesday, October 9.
The Community Bus Shuttle remains operational unless we experience sustained winds of more than 40 MPH. Our parks remain open.
Wednesday, October 9, the following event and meetings are cancelled:
- Senior Health Fair
- The Community Involved Government Committee meeting
- Architectural Review Committee meeting
Thursday, October 10, the following meeting is cancelled:
- Special Magistrate Hearing
Additional Information:
- Passport services will close a 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9 and is anticipated to reopen Thursday, October 10 at 1 p.m.
- The Coral Springs Regional Institute for Public Safety is closed Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10.
- Office Hours for Mayor Scott Brook and Commissioner Metayer Bowen, scheduled for Wednesday, October 10, will be made available via phone.
- Additional determinations about closures or impacts to city services will be made after Hurricane Milton makes landfall.
- Currently, six members of the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department are activated and will be mobilized to assist in search and rescue once the storm passes.

Coral Springs is under a Tropical Storm Warning, which means there is a possibility of severe weather as a result of Hurricane Milton. At this time, city operations are not impacted.

Coral Springs is under a Tropical Storm Watch, which means tropical storm-force winds are possible in our area within the next 48 hours.
Hurricane Milton is projected to maintain strength through the next 24-48 hours before making landfall as a major storm Wednesday Evening. Current models project landfall near Tampa, as early as Wednesday evening. However, at this time it is too early to determine exactly where Milton will make landfall. Models suggest that Milton will track directly through Florida’s peninsula with impacts to both coasts.
There are no impacts to city services or facilities at this time.
Broward County Schools and Coral Springs Charter School will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Coral Springs Emergency Management is closely monitoring Hurricane Milton, a strong storm, that is expected to make landfall on the west coast of Florida Wednesday. At this time there are no watches or warnings issued for Coral Springs, however heavy rainfall is expected across South Florida through mid-week and can lead to localized flooding. A flood watch remains in effect for the entire region through Thursday. At this time, city operations are not impacted as a result of the storm.
The city recommends the following:
- To prevent flooding ensure all storm drains are clear of debris.
- Bring items indoors that may easily blow over during wind gusts.
- Avoid driving or walking in standing or ponding water.
- Allow extra time for travel.
