Youth Ambassador Program

Get involved in your city! This program aims to empower local high school students to develop a passion for serving their community by participating in various service projects, leadership workshops, and community events throughout the year. Participants will also act as liaisons, addressing issues that affect both schools and the broader community while gaining insight into municipal government.

Eligibility: 

High school students who reside in the City of Coral Springs and attend any high school located in the City of Coral Springs (including Marjory Stoneman Douglas) maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and maintain satisfactory conduct within their school to participate.

Qualifications:
  • Students in grades 10 and 11 are encouraged to apply.
  • Students are encouraged to apply in the summer after 9th grade for participation in their 10th grade year.
  • Students should be eager to represent their peers to city leadership.
  • At the end of the program year, students must provide a 300-word narrative detailing their experience as part of the City of Coral Springs Youth Ambassador Program.
  • Application submission deadline is September 25, 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Attend orientation.
  • Attend regular  monthly Youth Ambassador Meetings.
  • Participate in research projects, community service programs, and other city/community events and/or meetings upon request.
  • Attend a minimum of (1) one City Commission Meetings each year.
  • Identify issues affecting the City of Coral Springs youth.
  • Serve as a role model to other youths.
  • Show proper respect and exhibit orderly conduct at all meetings and events.
  • Adhere to dress code as specified in the Board County School Board guidelines.

Activities:
  • Leadership activities which will provide hands-on leadership development and training; with special emphasis on highlighting the inner workings of government.
  • “Inside Government” facilities tours and presentations – Ambassador members will tour various city departments  and facilities and will receive information about their functions and operations in the city.
  • Service events – Ambassador members will participate in various events, held by the city, which provide assistance and give back to the community (i.e.: holiday tree lighting, ribbon cuttings, holiday parade, July 4th,  etc.).
  • Community Give Back – Ambassadors will participate in various volunteer opportunities throughout the county in conjunction with Hands on Broward.
